Jo Hodos
Let your imagination pull you into my
paintings. Recall your own love for the horses from your present or past. Maybe
you were able to own one....maybe you still do. Or perhaps a one time ride gave
you a feeling of freedom and joy.
Imagine yourself back in that time, and
for just a moment recall the warm rhythm of the horse moving beneath you, or his
snorts of pleasure under the strokes of the grooming brush.
Some of you may never have mounted a
horse, but still experienced the thrill of watching him run or jump. Step into
my paintings and become one of it's characters-triggered by the scent of the
countryside or the luster of freshly oiled leather.
Through these images I endeavor to extend
an appreciation and a love for this magnificent animal. This is a love and
appreciation I hope to evoke to you.
Artist Statement
Born in Youngstown, Ohio , excitement came to me at the
age of 10 when the media of oils was introduced,-a variety of scenes have
occupied my canvases. Equine scenarios evoke powerful portrayals of my love for
the horse.
Exposing nature as is, truly is a gifted talent. Using
a palette knife gives me that impasto, impressionistic look I want. From outdoor
shows to galleries, taking many awards in National, as well as International
show, has rewarded me greatly....
