Biography |
Donna
Frost is an award-winning mixed media artist residing in Tarpon
Springs, FL. Her painting journey began as an art student in
Greenville, SC and she hasnt looked back since. During her
beginning years as an artist, she painted what she saw around her in
a very realistic way. Very soon after moving to Florida in 2000, she
was influenced and inspired by her fellow artists and instructors to
interpret the subjects for her paintings in her own way. This led to
a much more creative outlet and resulted in a love of abstract and
non-objective paintings which she creates using water media,
collage, texture and whatever it takes. She also enjoys painting
figure studies in a very loose and interpretive style.
Painting has given Donna a new way to see the world and continues to
give her joy every day. Painting gives me the pleasure of
relinquishing control. I am always guided by the direction the
painting wants to take me. Donna works out of her home studio and
exhibits her work in many local venues and galleries in Florida. One
of the founding members of C5Arts, she is also a member of Studio
1212, a co-op gallery in Clearwater and is also represented by
Brainerd Gallery in Bluefield, WVA. She is a member of the
International Society of Acrylic Painters, the International Society
of Experimental Artists, Florida Watercolor Society, Tarpon Springs
Art Association, Creative Artists Guild, Beach Art Center and a
signature member of Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society.

Artist Statement |
Sometimes I feel like a kid in a
candy store. I want to try everything and I want to buy all the
whistles and bells that are available in an art store. Theres just
never enough time to do it all but the fun is in the trying.
Painting has become my second life. Prior to taking my first
watercolor class, I had never allowed my artistic side to flourish.
In fact, I didnt know I had one. I simply had never listened to my
inner voice which had probably been nagging me all along. Part of
being an artist is taking that time to be still and following your
intuition. I find that my artistic endeavors are intertwined with my
spiritual journey and I cant have one without the other.
As an artist, I am so thrilled when someone enjoys my work enough to
purchase it and put it in their home. I am also equally thrilled to
win an award and get that recognition and validation from someone
else. But aside from all that, the true joy from my artistic journey
is in the creative process itself. It fills a void that I wasnt
even aware was there. I also feel we are drawn to events in our
lives as we need them and are ready for them and that time for me is
now. |
